Adamama presents the Jewish Roots Festival, a new and vibrant celebration of Jewish culture explored through nature, sustainability, arts, and music. Jewish Roots Festival is filled with engaging activities for individuals looking to deepen their connection with their heritage, community, and the natural world.

Taking place outdoors in the Eastern Suburbs, the Jewish Roots Festival welcomes like-hearted community members who seek to explore and celebrate their Jewish identity in innovative ways. Expect a diverse range of activities, from live music, to dance, meditation, hands-on workshops and thought-provoking speakers, market and food stalls in a vibrant, inclusive natural setting, with a dedicated kid’s area. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.

Succulent Potting and Decorating
Shuk All Ages
Flex your green thumb with Adamama – plant a succulent offcut and decorate your pot with natural dyes and spices. Take home your plant and watch it grow!
Challah Board Making*
Shuk 12 & Up
Join David from DH Builds, a seasoned carpenter with a passion for handcrafted work, in this creative, hands-on workshop where you’ll design and decorate your own challah board using reclaimed timber. David will guide you through the process, teaching you how to work with sustainable, natural materials to craft a beautiful, functional piece. Reflecting both your personal style and the rich heritage of Jewish rituals, this workshop offers a meaningful way to connect with nature and tradition while creating something truly unique.

The outdoors offers endless opportunities for children to explore, discover, and immerse themselves in nature play. Join us for a hands-on experience where your little ones can reconnect with a rich tapestry of ‘loose parts’—sticks, stones, flowers, and mud—to spark their imagination, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Our mud kitchen invites children to mix, stir, pour, and create, while our tuff-trays filled with natural resources encourage unstructured play and exploration. Let them dive into a world of nature, learning, and fun!

Bush School gives children the opportunity to follow their whims and curiosity. The children lead and the educators support, ensuring the children’s safety and a respect for the environment and the wider community. As their educators, we watch them socialise, problem solve, learn and explore, work together, go through hard times, go through wonderful times, climb higher than they have before, work things out together, build, share, create, balance, fall and get up, help each other, play and relax and we just love it! We get dirty, we fall, we get bitten by mosquitoes, we climb trees, scramble over rocks and we live in connection to nature. These activities allow us to belong and care for our environment, we are enabled to be ourselves and become who we would like to be.

This 60-minute workshop combines movement and breath to enhance inner and physical well-being. You will explore both calming and energizing breathwork, as well as a blend of Hatha (static) and Vinyasa (dynamic) yoga sequences. Additionally, we will delve into chakras—the energy centres along your spine—and how they impact your body and mind. Through meditations, affirmations, and yoga poses, you’ll work to balance these chakras and cultivate a deeper connection to yourself and your roots. How our lunar cycle and the Jewish calendar, offer us a holy and healing rhythm to live by and how the practice of gathering around traditional & life cycle events, taps into an age-old portal of wisdom and connectivity. Learn how we are each the soulful anchors of our own homes, with the power to set a spiritual tone and affect the experience of our loved ones.

Get ready to create beautiful and functional gift cards, made from recycled materials and sown with seeds. These unique creations can be used to write cards to your family and friends, which they can then plant. Working with various herb seeds you will learn how to set up your own herb garden at home.
1:30-2:15pm Jewish Meditation*

Guided meditation with Dr Orna Triguboff. Do you want to learn a new form of meditation to help you relax, de-stress and be inspired? This session will give you skills in meditation based on powerful Jewish themes and concepts. We explore an ancient kabbalistic text, the Zohar – the Radiance – and silently reflect on the Tree of Life and energy centres within the body and soul.
2:30-3:30pm Music Jam with Ayelet Hashachar*

A 60-minute music workshop that taps into a central part of Jewish culture – song, spirit, and community. Learn about Jewish songs, the history behind the music we play, and the words we sing. But most importantly, connect with the music, the culture, and the community we all belong to.

Join saxophonist and guitarist Josh New, along with percussionist Jack Simon as they lead us through easy to learn songs, utilizing musical instruments and repetitive melodies from traditional and contemporary sources to strengthen our cultural roots and build a vibrant community. Come sing with us in nature!

Participants are encouraged to bring along their own instruments.

‘Dressing Sustainably – It’s as Easy as Changing Your Underwear’ – Boody’s MD Shaun Greenblo. Shaun will chat about how keeping sustainability and customer satisfaction at the business’s core has enabled Boody to scale, acquire new customers, grow into new regions, innovate product, and grow the team – all while helping to lighten the load on the planet.
4:00-5:00pm Sound Bath*

A relaxing and immersive sound experience with Yifat Shirben – Sound Journey Designed to release stress, reconnect with yourself, and find inner calm. Through the soothing sounds of Crystal Bowls, gongs, and drums, you will leave feeling grounded and recharged. Suitable for all, including beginners, this session offers a welcoming space for both first timers and those familiar with sound healing. Don’t miss this opportunity for deep rest and restoration!

Learn about preserving food with Mitch Burnie from Patch to Plate Living. Discover how preserving your food adds creativity, sustainability, and delicious flavours to any modern kitchen. Get hands on with fermentation and dehydration and leave with new skills and a couple of fun treats for your pantry.

Featuring unique, sustainable options including:

Clothes, Toys and Book Swap

Bring your pre-loved clothes, toys and books to swap for something new (to you) and save them from landfill by swapping them with someone who will get great use out of them.

Items need to be in excellent condition. Clothing can be for any size, gender and age. Excellent condition means the clothing is clean, pressed and free from rips, holes, stains or major faults. Toys need to be clean and in working condition and include all pieces.

Only bring items you would proudly give to a friend.

  • Tops, shirts, blouses and jackets
  • Pants, jeans and shorts
  • Skirts, dresses and suits
  • Belts, bags and shoes
  • Scarves, ties and hats
  • Puzzles and toys including soft toys

All styles and brands are accepted, provided they are in excellent condition – so keep in mind that items will range from on-trend pieces to older classics. And although we love receiving them, we cannot guarantee everyone who brings a designer item will take home an equivalent piece.

Items are checked before being put out for the swap. If your items are unsuitable, you may be asked to take them home.

  • Jewellery and wigs
  • Underwear, socks and swimwear
  • Sportswear and activewear
  • Anything stained, torn or unclean
  • Noticeably worn out, shabby, pilling or frayed items

You will receive one token for each item. Each token will redeem one item.

Left over items will be donated.
